WEEK ONE STARTS HERE

GREAT THINGS
COME IN THREES

The King, The Golden Bear and The Black Knight walk into a timber plot…and the rest is Champions Retreat history. In a game generally reserved for foursomes, your new course was shaped by a trio, and they layered their winning styles over Bluff, Island and Creek. I can’t wait for you to follow their leads.

Expect those opportunities to come endlessly and in a variety of formats. With weekend pairings, weekday socials, seasonal championships and holiday tournaments, your calendar is loaded to The Nines. And of course, when the pros go hunting for green jackets, there’s no better place to enjoy the prestigious energy of Augusta than your own down-the-road private club.

Mastering 27 holes designed by golf legends is no small feat, and our Tour-caliber staff stays on-demand with personalized instruction to help shave some strokes. If you haven’t been fitted for clubs – or if it’s time for an upgrade – we can outfit your bag with the latest, the greatest and the best…and top manufacturers are always dropping by for demos, tips and shop talk.

From the ease of landing a tee time to a celebrated social scene and eye-popping scenery around every bend of the cart path, we’re excited to unlock this championship aura of golf. Please select one of the curated experiences below and you’ll be on your way to a legendary time, in no time.

A CANVAS CREATED
BY CHAMPIONS

Palmer’s Island. Nicklaus’ Bluff. Player’s Creek. Titans of the game, shadowed only by the longleaf Georgia pines that line their namesake Nines. Never before had they collaborated on a course…and they never will again. Their combined legacies unfold before you in a singular experience not found anywhere else in the world. This is yours to enjoy in concert with PGA personnel, a decorated calendar of tournaments, and the scenic escapism of our Low Country setting.

MASTERS WEEK

Our Club was envisioned over a Masters Dinner by Masters Champions…we live for this week. A multifaceted experience that no other private club can deliver, Champions Retreat comes alive with tournament fanfare that includes special events, signature menus, night golf, title sponsors, bars, and live music to accompany the busiest week of the year.

CHAMPIONS CIRCUIT

Save the date for our tentpole championships, and we’ll save a place for you in the record books. Make a big season-opening statement at the Icebreaker Tournament and carry that winning mentality into June’s Club Championship Weekend. Summer hits its Southern stride over the 4th of July’s Red-White-Blue Tournament, but everything’s a trophy-hoisting warmup for the Annual CR Cup in November, where the Overs (50+) battles the Unders (49 and under) in a Ryder Cup style event, with good times had by all.

BELLS & BARRELS

You never forget an ace…and if it happens at Champions Retreat, the Village won’t either. When the bell in the center of the Club starts ringing, that’s your cue to come running…a hole-in-one has been carded and the bar is wide open to celebrate the achievement. Gunning for golf glory? Champions of the annual Member-Member Tournament win matching barrels as trophies to be displayed at their homes in perpetuity.

CHAMPIONS PLAYBOOK

Before taking on the course record, may we recommend a rules recap? Join a Champions Retreat PGA Professional and fellow members for a rules of the game seminar that sifts through all of the situations and circumstances that are bound to surface over 27 holes of varied play and terrain. Complemented with food and beverages, this clinic is a foundational, communal, and fun way to clear up any complications before experiencing the Bluff, Island and Creek nines.

KEYS TO THE TEES

See the greens through the eyes of a Champions Retreat PGA Professional with this 9- or 18-hole personal playing lesson. Course management, club selection, uneven lies and specialty shots are those in-the-moment decisions that only a live round can truly unlock. This scenic initiation is a scorecard special sure to improve your overall game and enjoyment.

SHORT GAME GAUNTLET

The great ones know that champions are forged by wedges and putters. Join a Champions Retreat PGA Professional for a putting, chipping and pitching course and smooth out your game from the fringe in a fun format. Each shot is scored with a point system that accumulates to a “short game” handicap. After identifying strengths and weaknesses, you’ll leave this challenge with a personalized program to make you dangerous at close range.

INSTRUCTION

Individual Instruction
Hours well spent! Each PGA Professional on staff is TPI Certified and committed to seeing Members improve through personalized instruction.

For info on programs and personnel, please contact the Golf Shop at (706) 854-6970.

Custom Club Fitting
Savannah River sunsets and Member swings…no two are alike. Clubs fit to spec are one of the best investments any golfer can make, and your Club Pros are certified to fit Titleist, Callaway and Taylormade products. In addition, Champions hosts PXG and other top-tier manufacturers throughout the year.

LADIES ACADEMY

One of the Retreat’s most popular new programs, Fore The Ladies is an eight-week Ladies golf academy that rallies over group instruction and culminates in two on-course Sunday matches. Along with high-level golf instruction, Members will have the opportunity to enjoy an unrivaled culinary experience with Chef Ross and Rouchi in good company!

For info, pricing, and preferred dates, please email Mike Rymer at mike@championsretreat.net.

FUTURE CHAMPIONS

The game is grown via the Club’s flagship youth program, the Future Champions Golf Academy. Across a three-semester curriculum, young players approach the game from a hole-out perspective and develop a champion’s mentality early on. Get ready, parents and grandparents: they’ll rival your handicap in no time.

Future Champions Golf Academy is open to children ages 6–14. For details, dates and registration, contact eric@championsretreat.net or call the Golf Shop at (706) 854-6970. We also support the development of young players through events including our annual Parent-Child Tournament and the Junior Club Championship.

ETIQUETTE

The Rules of Golf as adopted by the U.S.G.A., together with the Rules of Etiquette as adopted by the U.S.G.A., shall be the rules of the Club, except when in conflict with local rules or with any of the rules and regulations herein.

Slow Play
It is the Club policy that all rounds of golf at Champions Retreat shall be played in an allowed time of 4 hours and 30 minutes. If moving slowly, please allow faster groups to play through. However, groups of three or less should not expect to play through if the course is busy. Groups falling more than one full hole behind the group in front should make every effort to catch up or allow the following group to play through. Habitual violation may result in restrictions and/or suspensions of the Member’s access to the golf course at the discretion of the Club’s Golf Staff.

Music
Members can play music as long as the volume does not bother or distract fellow players. A general standard of courtesy is expected and required by all Members and their guests. If any Club employee directs a Member or guest to limit the volume or otherwise discontinue music on the golf course or practice facility, promptly compliance is expected.

Rules

• Each golfer must have his/her own clubs and bag.
• Practice balls are not to be removed from the practice areas.
• Please repair ball marks on greens.

Accompanied Guests
Must be accompanied by the sponsoring Member when using the golf facilities (or any other Club facilities) unless otherwise determined by the Club from time to time. The sponsoring Member is responsible for the conduct of the guest. Members can host up to 7 guests at the accompanied greens fee rate of $115 for 18 holes. SAY HELLO TO MIKE!

This lobster roll-loving Maryland native has enjoyed a 20-year run in the golf industry, dedicating his time since 2016 to the Nines at Champions Retreat. Over his career, Mike has developed a reputation for exceeding expectations and anticipating the needs of Members. A man of the world who’s shaken the hand of Arnold Palmer, he’s most at home navigating the fairways and greens of Champions Retreat…that is, when he’s not spending time with family and rooting for the Dallas Cowboys.
